The scientific consensus is clear – we are facing a climate crisis.

That’s why it’s time to stand up and let the world know climate change is real and happening now. By getting involved and advocating for change – even in just small ways – you can help work towards getting the urgent action that’s needed for a sustainable, healthy planet.

What you can do now

1. Spread the word

Helping others understand the importance of climate change can be as easy as talking about it when the opportunity comes up, in everyday conversations with friends and family. You can also invite them to sign up to Parents2020 to stay in the loop with tips and advice to tackle climate change.

Another way to broadcast your support is through your own social media or sharing posts from our friends School Strike 4 Climate or Not Business as Usual. You can also talk to your children’s schools and teachers about what their schools are doing, and ask them to support these initiatives.

2. Lobby our leaders

By getting in touch with your local members (local councillors, state and federal parliamentarians), you can show your concern for environmental issues and help advocate for our children’s future. Contacting key federal members like the Prime Minister, Minister for the Environment, and Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction can also help our leaders know there’s a groundswell of support for change.

3. Get your community on board

Creating a community environment group can be a great way to take action at a local level. Not only will it help you see grassroots environmental change in your neighbourhood, it’s also an opportunity to boost local connections and strengthen your community.
